Obama just won't let this tire inflation thing drop, but the headlines over at Tirereview make a mockery of his position.
Follow me over the flip to find out the details.
Jsut look at these front page stories on North American Tire News:
Kumho announces price increase
Prices on Kumho Tire USA Inc. tires will increase up to 10% as of Sept. 1, the company said.
The increase will impact Kumho’s entire line of passenger, light truck/SUV and medium truck tires.
Falken ups prices
Falken Tire Corp. said it is increasing prices on all of its Falken brand passenger and light truck/SUV tires sold in the U.S. as of Sept. 1.
The increase will be up to 8%, with the amount varying by line.
Bridgestone/Firestone increasing prices
Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire and Bridgestone/Firestone Canada will both institute price hikes of up to 10% on all of their tire lines as of Sept. 1.
Yokohama adds to prices
Yokohama Tire Corp. will increase prices on its lines of bias and radial OTR tires and its medium and commercial light truck radials as of Sept. 1.
Yokohama’s OTR prices will increase by up to 4%, while its truck tires will see an increase of up to 6%.
Obama claims that tire inflation will reduce energy consumption by 3-4%, but from these quotes tire inflation will come in at somewhere between 6-10%, thus rendering any savings meaningless.
It's about time Obama pwned up to his cheap rhetoric, and about time I stopped stretching a bad pun out into a whole diary.
